Beware of Romance Scams

Beware of an ever growing number of dating and romance scams that take in the naïve prospect for love and money. A lot of them try to become friends with you and then ask you for favors (e.g. transfer money to them via Western Union). If you have been hurt by one of these scams, you should visit Scam Victims United here and read through the many types of scams there are out there. You can report a scam to Scam Watch network here.

Don’t accept unsolicited emails (spam) from anyone nor reply to them. You should delete them. Never send your credit card, address, or phone numbers through an email. Use common sense and be on the lookout for warning signs. Do your research on internet dating websites. If someone you never met is saying they love you and they want to send you gifts; you should ask yourself ‘is this person a scammer?’ Another good website to visit and research is Romance Scams.com here. They have a database of scammers. Please be careful and watch out!
